Salsa
Salsa dancing developed in the 1980’s evolving from the Mambo. It has remained popular ever since and has spread globally. Many Latin venues include salsa, merengue, bachata and cha cha music for dancing.

Bachata
The Bachata dance is one of the most popular Club Latin dance genres along with the salsa, bachata and a newer dance genres like the Kizomba (originated in Angola). Bachata is a newer dance than salsa and is danced to Caribbean style music!

In recent decades Latin dance clubs have sprung up all over the United States as the club Latin dances became very popular. These dance genres include the salsa, bachata and merengue.
The ballroom Latin dances include the cha cha, rumba, bolero, samba and mambo. In International Latin dance competition, there are five Latin dances: samba, cha cha, rumba, paso doble and jive. The jive is included even though it is not a Latin dance but a swing dance genre.
Cha Cha
Cha cha originated in the 1940’s and has been around ever since. There are many different style of cha cha including this one, International Cha Cha, others include American style cha cha, Latin Club style cha cha and Country Western style cha cha.

Samba
Samba originated in Brazil with a heavy African rhythm then spread around the world to evolve into International samba, American samba and other styles.
