Fernando Sosa is the founder of the Tropical Gem Dance Company. He was born May 19, 1977 in Uruguay where he practiced artistic gymnastics. Eventually, he moved to Italy when he was 15 years old to study dance. Moreover, he studied dance with Alberto Valdes, who brought his focus to Afro-Cuban dance. Later, Fernando moved to Bologna, Italy and joined a dance performance group touring all over Italy.
In 1998, Sosa joined a dance performance group “Otra Idea” where he perfected his skills in jazz, hip hop, Afro-Cuban, rumba and salsa dancing. They performed abroad to salsa congresses in the United States including New York and Los Angeles. Tropical Gem Dance Company is one of the greatest salsa performance groups in the world. Fernando Sosa: Co-founder of the Tropical Gem Dance Company
In 2000, Sosa and fellow dancer, Rafael Gonzalez, created the group Tropical Gem and premiered their group at the World Salsa Congress in Milan, Italy. After that they danced in places like Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, Los Angeles, New York, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Portugal, Athens, Berlin, Amburgo, London and Sydney.
In 2005, along with Rafael Gonzalez, he opened the Tropical Gem Dance School and later in 2008 the Sosa Academy Dance School for dance and fitness.
